About Me

I’m Ashley Azzopardi and I am a primary school teacher in Sydney, NSW, Australia. I am passionate about teaching and wellbeing.

I have taught Year 5 (2013-2014), Year 2 (2015-2017) and I currently teach Year 1. I have also been the ICT reference teacher / eLearning coordinator since 2014 and I am also a STEM Coordinator.

I have completed a Bachelor of Inclusive Education and Disability Studies (2008-2010) and a Master of Teaching (Primary) / Graduate Certificate of Religious Education (2011-2012) at Australian Catholic University, Strathfield.

I have also taught tutorials for EDTS240 Technologies Education at ACU in Semester One, 2017.

My Vision Statement

As a teacher, I aim to create an atmosphere that encourages curiosity and sheer determination. My classroom is a place where students feel important, respected, cared for and believed in. I am a teacher who makes it possible for her students to reach their full potential, ask questions, learn from their mistakes, give and receive feedback, create and try their best. In our classroom, real-world problems are solved and each student believes that they can make a difference in this world. Together, we celebrate each other’s success and inspire each other to be the best person that we can be.

  4. I went to ACU as well, but in Melbourne. I also completed their 2 year then titled Bachelor of Education Graduate Entry. Loved the course and loved ACU. I definitely felt it gave me a good grounding a Education that I’ve been able to build on over the last 4.5 years. I hope you are loving ACU and the course as much as I did. Best of luck!

  7. I love your blog, it has really inspired me. I am in my second year of a four year Bachelor of Teaching-Primary at LaTrobe and loving it so far. Your blog is so good! I think the best thing about it is how you link to the graduating teacher standards. I just might have to start doing that it is such a good idea!   8. Hi Ashley; I am also studying at ACU (Primary). I have been a secondary teacher for a few years and now inspired by young teachers such as yourselves to complete retraining as a primary teacher. If I can take even a small fraction of what you have been teaching me in the last few weeks; my students will enjoying their classroom experience with me.

  11. If you ask me what questions I have for you, I will answer: Just one. …and the one question will be: Do you have a Master’s degree in personal productivity and organisation? I suppose your response wouldn’t be positive.

    I am sure you are an organized teacher. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have time for a well-styled and content-rich profile blog like this. It speaks who you really are.

    …and that is why I don’t need to ask you that single question anymore.

  12. Hey Ashley, I came across your site through another teacher friend. It’s very encouraging to see your blogging skills and passion for teaching shine through! I’m currently Supply Teaching in the Brisbane area, and whenever I do, I usually sneak in a poetry lesson and post it on my site for the students to enjoy.       Thank you. To make the ‘your comments are appreciated’ image, I simply found the frame image online and created the inside using the computer program ‘Paint’. The links on my blog page can easily be made using the links tool WordPress provides.

  20. Hi Ashley, I have been loving reading your posts. I am in my 3rd year of teaching in Canberra. I have had a look at your class blog (which looks great!) and was wondering… what kind of media permissions did parents need to complete for you to use student pictures/worksamples etc on the blog? I am interested in beginning a class blog but am unsure about the security/privacy issues that may go with it. Any help/suggestions would be most welcomed.

    1. Hi Samantha,

      Thank you for your kind words. Our school sends out an Acceptable Use Policy which parents need to read and agree to. The policy outlines the acceptable use of technology their child needs to follow when using technology at school. We also send out a media consent form which parents sign to provide permission for their photo to be used for educational purposes.
